Kim, I’m totally glad AnimalKind is getting the money. You’ve told me a lot about them and I know they’re doing good things. I’m so sorry that Katrin has suffered so much this year, and I hope the money helps! I also hope she can persevere and keep her chin up in the face of adversity. The kitties need her!

I loved Bill’s story, every bit… and the end especially. I’m sorry you didn’t win but I’ve chosen to support the no-kill rescue my cats came from and, while that is pretty terrific on its own, there’s so much more…

Katrin, who runs AnimalKind, has suffered from a great deal of personal loss of late. Her entire house was destroyed by Hurricane Irene. Friends rushed in to save her 27 cats as her living room and dining room filled with 5 feet of water. The barn out back that housed a managed feral cat colony is gone, but the hungry, now sickly cats have all come back and they’ve brought friends – former house cats abandoned by circumstance.

Katrin is struggling to fund raise for her rescue on the heels of this, but the couture she had been collecting for October’s annual Cat Walk Fashion fundraiser was all destroyed in the flood. All this on the heels of her husband recently suffering from a stroke…

I can’t tell you how much Katrin appreciates this donation at such a time of need. I’ll be posting more about it on my blog for tomorrow.
